Dark Chocolate Squares with Tiramisu Mousse…these delectable bites will leave you wanting more!
We served these as part of our dessert platter for our holiday party this past year! Our menu that day consisted of bite-sized items that just kept coming out all night. We had a feeling that people may not have room for dessert after all the food was served. So to keep with the theme, we decided to serve a few bite-sized desserts to end the night with just a little sweetness! When we thought of serving a Tiramisu Mousse, we searched online for some recipes but didn’t quite find any we liked. So this is my version of Tiramisu Mousse! My husband actually came up with the idea of piping it onto some dark chocolate cups or dark chocolate squares.
I didn’t have the time to make my own dark chocolate cups, so when I came across some pre-made ones at Cost Plus World Market, I decided to give them a try. They were perfect in shape and size but had one problem…the actual taste of the dark chocolate wasn’t quite up to my standards. So instead, I melted some Ghiradelli Dark Chocolate Chips, poured it onto a cookie sheet and created a thin slab. After it solidified in the fridge, I cut the slab up into bite-sized squares, piped the Tiramisu mousse onto each square, and dusted the top with some cocoa powder!
The taste of the coffee, texture of the mousse, and richness of the dark chocolate created a heavenly flavor that just melted in your mouth!
I made the mousse and chocolate squares ahead of time and assembled them a few hours before the party! It was extremely easy and everyone loved them! We served these alongside some mini-martini glasses containing Mint Chocolate no-bake Cheesecake (recipe to come)! We ended up serving the mousse on both the dark chocolate cups I had purchased and the squares I had made, but obviously my favorite in terms of taste was the squares. Next time I plan on making the chocolate cups myself.
I took the leftover mousse (in a piping bag) and chocolate squares home to my parents (since we left for Christmas the day after the party) and they were gone within a day! My brother and dad devoured them!
They are easy and fun to make, and perfect to serve at at any party!
