Who wants to be able to enjoy a MILKSHAKE anytime of the day? Even for breakfast. Meet my new favorite Strawberry Hemp Milkshake recipe! This recipe is very thick and creamy similar to traditional milkshakes, except that THIS one is much healthier! Oh and did I mention how easy it is to make?
This Strawberry Hemp Milkshake is the perfect snack, breakfast, or treat! It gets it’s sweetness, thickness, and creaminess from the use of freshly frozen strawberries, bananas, and hemp seeds. I’ve been using hemp seeds for a few years now, and I love sprinkling it on anything (such as salads, breakfast toasts, and pastas) and blending it into smoothies. They are a good source of protein and contain all the essential amino acids. I’ve recently been enjoying different types of blender nice-creams with added hemp seeds, and I figured they would also taste great blended up into simple drinks.
If your kids are anything like mine, they’re hungry as soon as they come home from school or wake up from their afternoon nap. Instead of their typical green smoothie or almond milk, I surprised them with this Strawberry Hemp Milkshake one afternoon and they loved it! Even my husband, who loves traditional milkshakes, came home from work and tried some of the milkshake I saved for him, and complained that I only saved him a little! This is the part where I secretly have a grin on my face.
This strawberry hemp milkshake is the perfect after school snack that's not only nutrient packed but delicious!
- Allow the frozen strawberries and frozen banana to thaw at room temperature for about 5 minutes.
- Place all the ingredients in a powerful blender (I used my Vitamix). Use between 3/4 cup to 1 cup of the non-dairy milk depending on how thick you want your milkshake to be (I used 1 cup).
- Completely blend all the ingredients. Use a temper to push down the contents of the blender to help the blending process. The resulting milkshake should be thick and creamy.
- Pour the strawberry hemp milkshake into 3 or 4 glasses, garnish each glass with a strawberry, and enjoy!
I typically wash and freeze fresh strawberries and bananas for this recipe. If you don't have frozen fruit, just add a few ice cubes. It won't be as thick, but still delicious.
